The Book of Acts, often referred to simply as Acts, serves as a continuation of the Gospel of Luke. It details the early years of the Christian church after the ascension of Jesus Christ.

This 168-page study, written by Pastor Scott Kirkland, begins with the ascension of Jesus and the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, which empowers the apostles to spread the message of Jesus. Key figures include Peter, who leads the early church in Jerusalem, and Paul, formerly Saul of Tarsus, who becomes a major apostolic figure.

Acts describes the apostles’ missionary journeys, including the establishment of various Christian communities throughout the Roman Empire. Key events include Peter’s vision, which led to the inclusion of Gentiles in the church, Paul’s conversion on the road to Damascus, and a series of missionary trips that spread Christianity across regions such as Asia Minor and Greece.

The book also highlights challenges faced by the believers, including persecution, internal strife, and debates over the inclusion of Gentiles. It concludes with Paul’s arrest in Jerusalem and his subsequent journey to Rome, where he continues to preach the gospel.

The Study of Acts is presented in a lesson format and can be used in the classroom or even in the pulpit.
